What it helps

Builds the calf strength that pushes you off the ground each step — key for a strong, springy stride.

How to do it

  1. Stand holding a counter.
  2. Rise onto the balls of your feet.
  3. Lower slowly.

Tips

  • Gradually shift more weight onto the surgical side over time.

Commonly done as 2-3 sets of 10-15, daily.

Where this appears in recovery

Standing Calf Raises is part of 3 recovery programs, typically at the strength & function (weeks 6–12) stage. Each program shows how it fits alongside the other movements:

All exercise guides · Condition guides · Recovery education

These are general exercise guides, not a personal prescription. The repetitions and frequency shown are what's commonly used — your own surgeon or therapist may advise something different, and their guidance comes first.
